First things first

The service, and what it is not

Is this gambling?

No. Chip & Chance provides casino-themed entertainment at private, offline events. Guests receive symbolic chips free of charge, in equal stacks. Those chips have no monetary value, cannot be bought, cannot be topped up and cannot be exchanged for money or for anything of monetary value.

There is no betting, there are no stakes, there are no cash prizes, and we operate no online casino, platform or app. What the format borrows from a casino floor is the sociability; what it leaves out is the money.

So what do guests win?

Whatever recognition you choose to arrange: a trophy, a bottle for the leading table, a mention in the closing remarks, or nothing at all beyond the standings.

A prize of monetary value, a cash equivalent or anything redeemable is the one thing we will not organise, and we will decline a brief that asks for it.

Could a guest lose money at one of your events?

No. There is no mechanism by which that could happen. Money never comes to the table in either direction — guests do not pay to play, cannot buy chips and have nothing to settle at the end.

If a guest asks to play for real stakes, our hosts are briefed to say no, clearly and politely.

Why does the site say 18+ rather than 19+?

Because 18 is the minimum age at which we will admit anyone to an event, anywhere we operate. Where a venue, a province or a client policy sets a higher age, that higher age applies instead — we work to the strictest requirement in the room, never the loosest.

In practice our hosts support your venue’s own door policy, and we will not run a table for a guest below the applicable age.

Booking

Quotes, dates and money

We do not publish prices. This section explains why, and what you get instead.

How far ahead should we book?

For a year-end function in November or December, as early as possible — those weekends go first and we start declining work. For most other dates, four to six weeks is comfortable.

We have delivered a full evening on nine days’ notice when a venue cancellation forced it, so a short lead time is worth asking about rather than assuming.

What do you need to produce a quote?

The date, the venue, the approximate guest count and a rough idea of the format. A floor plan or even a photograph of the room makes the quote considerably more accurate.

The quote comes back within one business day as a single document covering crew, tables, timings, travel and what is excluded.

Why will you not publish prices?

Because two events with the same guest count can need completely different crews, table counts and travel. Pricing depends on event size, venue and chosen format, and publishing a figure would mislead roughly half the people reading it.

We prepare a quote based on your bespoke event concept, and the planning call that produces it costs nothing.

What is not included?

Venue hire, catering, alcohol service, security and any recognition item you choose to hand out are not included unless they appear explicitly on your quote.

Load-in, set-up, strike and leaving the room clean are always included.

Do you take a deposit?

A signed quote and a booking retainer hold the date. The amount and the schedule are stated on your quote — see the Terms & Conditions for how cancellation and rescheduling work.

On the night

Rooms, guests and logistics

How many guests can you look after?

From a twelve-person boardroom evening to up to 350 guests, with a running time of up to 6 hours.

The real constraint is almost never the headcount — it is how much standing room sits behind each table. We work that out from your floor plan before quoting.

What does the venue need to provide?

A level floor, a doorway and route we can carry flight cases along, somewhere to unload reasonably close by, and a standard power outlet if you want table lighting.

Stairs are fine when we know in advance. Very shallow lifts are the one thing that occasionally defeats us, so measure yours if you are unsure.

Do you travel outside Manitoba?

Yes, across Canada. Our kit is flight-cased because a good share of our work is in places reached by rail or air rather than by road — see Manitoba and northern coverage.

Travel, freight and crew accommodation appear as separate lines on your quote.

Can the tables run during speeches?

They can, but we advise against it. Tables competing with a speaker annoy both. The pattern that works is a teaching stretch during the reception, quiet tables for the formal programme, then open play afterwards.

Send us your run sheet and we will mark where the tables should go quiet.

Our guests have never played. Is that a problem?

It is the normal case. Hosts spend the first half hour running deliberately slow, explanatory rounds and keep teaching all evening as new guests arrive.

A host who cannot bring a complete beginner into a game in about two minutes does not work our floors.

Policy

Compliance, wellbeing and your data

Will our compliance or HR team approve this?

In our experience yes, once the written limits are in front of them. We send wording a reviewer can forward without rewriting, and we are happy to mirror a specific policy phrase your organisation needs used.

Several clients have had the terms cleared by compliance before signing — see the case notes.

What if a guest has a gambling-related problem?

We would encourage anyone who has experienced difficulties with gambling not to take part, even in a themed format with no money involved. The visual language can be uncomfortable regardless of the absence of stakes, and nobody should feel obliged to join in.

Our hosts are briefed to accept a “no” without comment and to leave guests who prefer to watch entirely alone. The Responsible Entertainment notice includes general helpline information.

What do you do with the details I submit on the form?

We use them to answer your enquiry and nothing else. They are emailed to [email protected], they do not go onto a marketing list, and they are not shared with third parties for their own marketing.

The Privacy Policy sets out what is collected, why, how long it is kept and how to ask for it to be corrected or deleted.

Do you use cookies or tracking?

Only with your consent. Analytics and advertising cookies stay switched off until you turn them on, and declining is as easy as accepting. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through Change cookie settings in the footer.

The Cookie Policy explains the categories, the Google Consent Mode v2 signals behind them and who data may be shared with.

Service limits

Offline entertainment only. This is strictly offline event entertainment. There is no real-money gambling, no betting, no cash prizes, and no online casino service. Guests play with symbolic chips and points that hold no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for anything of value. Events are for adults aged 18+ and over.

Symbolic chips only

Guests receive unmarked chips or points at the start of the evening. They carry no monetary value, cannot be purchased, cannot be cashed out and cannot be exchanged for anything of value.

18+, checked at the door

Our hosts support your venue in checking age on entry. We do not run events for under-age guests and we do not market to them.

Offline, in your venue

Everything happens in a physical room, with physical tables and a human host. We operate no platform where anyone can play, and no app.

Still unsure?

Ask the awkward question

The ones about stakes, prizes and compliance are the questions we answer best, because we have had to answer them in writing many times.
