The brief we get

“Twenty-two people, a private dining room, and I do not want it to feel like an event.”

Verbatim, from a first call in 2026

The approach

Restraint is the product

At this size, everything that works at scale starts working against you.

A large function needs momentum: a leaderboard, a visible crew, a bit of theatre to pull three hundred people towards the tables. Put the same energy in a room of twenty-two and it feels like a performance nobody asked for. So we invert it. Tables are reserved rather than open, hosts stay with the same guests all evening, and the pace follows the conversation rather than driving it.

Practically, that means a host who can run a hand slowly enough that two guests can finish a discussion between cards, and who knows when to stop dealing entirely because something more interesting is happening at the table. That judgement is the part we hire for and the part we cannot shortcut.

The crew arrives early, sets up before guests are anywhere near the room, and is dressed to match your venue rather than to stand out from it. No signage, no microphone, no closing speech unless you want one.

  • One host per table, all evening. The same face, not a rota.
  • Styled to your venue. Table dressing and lighting chosen for the room you have booked.
  • Confidential by default. We will sign your NDA; either way the event stays out of our case notes.

Included

What the format carries

The table

  • Reserved seats rather than open play
  • A dedicated host for the full running time
  • Pace set by the guests, including stopping entirely
  • Teaching handled one-to-one, never by announcement

The room

  • Table dressing and lighting chosen for your venue
  • A floor plan agreed with the venue before the day
  • Crew in formal dress, matched to your dress code
  • Set-up completed before guests are in the building

The limits

  • Symbolic chips only, free and in equal stacks
  • No buy-in, no settlement, no payout — at any guest list size
  • Adults 18+ only
  • No online component of any kind

The written limits are identical to every other format we run. They do not flex with the guest list — see the Responsible Entertainment notice.

“Three of our guests asked afterwards who had organised the tables, because they had assumed the restaurant did it. That was exactly the result we wanted.”

VIP questions

What gets asked before a short guest list is confirmed

What makes this different from a standard evening?

Crew ratio and pace. A standard table serves whoever walks up; a VIP table is reserved, has its own host for the whole evening and runs at whatever speed the guests want, including very slowly.

The second difference is restraint. No leaderboard, no announcements, no branded signage unless you ask for it. The crew is there to be useful and otherwise invisible.

Can you sign a non-disclosure agreement?

Yes, and we are used to it. We will sign your NDA or confidentiality wording, brief the crew to it, and keep the event out of our own case notes entirely — which is why the examples published on this site are anonymised even when they are not covered by one.

Is there still no money involved at this level?

Correct, and it does not change with the guest list. Chips remain symbolic, free and equal; there is no buy-in, no settlement and nothing that can be exchanged for money or for anything of monetary value.

We have turned down briefs at this end of the market for exactly this reason. It is not a position we negotiate.

Do you supply the venue?

No. We bring the tables, the crew and the styling into a venue you have chosen or already hold. We will happily talk to the venue about load-in, power and sightlines, and we will tell you if a room is wrong for the format before you commit to it.

A quiet conversation first

Send the date and the venue and we will arrange a call. If confidentiality matters, say so in the first message and we will handle the paperwork before anything else.
